Today is the three year anniversary of October 7. I feel like I should mark the occasion, but have nothing good to say. Bibi’s dream war is raging in Iran. The conflict has spread to Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, and the United States. The ongoing Palestinian nightmare continues in Gaza, Judea, and Samaria. “When they release the hostages, this will all be over.”

October 7, 2023 was just another Saturday. Then I saw this tweet: @JDVance1 “Praying for our friends in Israel this morning. Just an awful situation.” 5:57 AM · Oct 7, 2023. Having JD Vance tell me that we were in a world of shit is an unwelcome bit of synchronicity.

47 minutes later, the Senator from Ohio got on the bandwagon. @JDVance1 “As we watch this horrible situation in Israel unfold, Americans must face a stark truth: our tax dollars funded this. · Money is fungible, and many of the dollars we sent to Iran are being used to now kill innocent people. · This must stop. · Israel has every right to defend itself. I wish our friends well, but most of all I wish they weren’t fighting against weapons bought with our money.” 6:44 AM · Oct 7, 2023. The media wasted no time blaming Iran for the attack. Hamas was always referred to as “Iran backed.” The pressure for Bibi’s dream war picked up a notch that day.

October 7, 2024 was a monday. I posted my notes from the previous week. There were several items regarding the escalating tragedy in Gaza: Bibi’s Plan for Peace through Wider War · 18 killed in Israeli strike on West Bank’s Tulkarem refugee camp: Ministry · I found this quote by @elilake: “because the Palestinians continue to think that a strategy of causing atrocities will eventually convince Jews to leave a country.” Max Blumenthal calls Eli Lake the Zionist Egg.

The big hasbara story that week was The Message, a new book by Ta-Nehisi Paul Coates. It seems as though TPC went to the West Bank, and saw how Israel treats the Palestinians. For some reason, hasbara media thought this would make a good distraction from the ongoing slaughter in Gaza. This included a piece at The Free Press: The Fantasy World of Ta-Nehisi Coates His new book, ‘The Message,’ is a masterpiece of warped arguments and moral confusion. By Coleman Hughes.

“One noteworthy appearance was on CBS Mornings. Tony Dokoupil gave TPC a rude greeting: “I have to say when I when I read the book I imagine if I took your name out of it took away the awards and the Acclaim took the cover off the book … the content of that section would not be out of place in the backpack of an extremist.” Later, Mr. Dokoupil inadvertently says something many of Israel’s neighbors might agree with: “If you were to read this book you would be left wondering why does any of Israel exist what a horrific Place committing horrific acts on a daily basis.”

October 7, 2025: “Today is the two year anniversary. As the scope of the tragedy became apparent, I knew two things. One, Israel would exponentially over-retaliate, killing thousands of Palestinians for every Israeli that died. (In my wildest conspiratorial imagination, I would not have thought that Israel would kill hundreds of its own citizens.) Two, there was going to be a tsunami of toxic rhetoric. Israel has known how to play to American public opinion for a long time. This second aspect of this calamity is what today’s post will focus on. Specifically, “Dave Smith vs. Coleman Hughes Debate: Israel and U.S. Foreign Policy.” If you want to read about the Smith-Hughes chat, follow the link.

Debating Coleman Hughes is like trying to nail Jello to a wall. Pictures today are from The Library of Congress. John Vachon took the social media picture in January 1941. “Steelworker at grievance committee meeting. Steelworkers organizing committee office. Aliquippa, Pennsylvania”
