It is a form of word play without a name. Like anagrams, it involves recycling letters. The idea is to take a group of consonants, and see how many vowels you can plug in. Some groups work with all five vowels. The words then band into a five member band of brothers, connected by a vowel movement. Bee space enn dee is such a combination. It produces band, bend, bind, bond, and bund.

Band is a musical group, a wedding band, or, in today’s trifecta challenge, an occasion for unity. Bend is a curve in the road. It can be a noun, or a verb. The same is true for bind and bond, except that sometimes a bond pays interest.

Bund is the only foreigner in the bunch. In German, Bund is a political group. In Hindi, a bund is
“1. An embankment or dike, 2. A street running along a harbor or waterway.”
Bee is a versatile consonant. The combination of bee space enn (ban, Ben, bin, bon, bun) works. The same is true for bee space dee (bad, bed, bid, bod, bud). Pictures toady are from “The Special Collections and Archives,Georgia State University Library”.

Prospect Party

Posted in Georgia History, Trifecta, Undogegorized by chamblee54 on July 22, 2013

When PG found the party, the first thing he noticed was the food. There were hollowed out watermelons, filled with chunks of fruit. The obligatory spinach dip was there, as were pigs in blankets, and chips and dip. PG had already eaten dinner, but that seldom stops him.

The music was too loud for conversation outside. PG went inside and saw his friend Uzi. They discussed pictures of horses and non-synchronistic coincidence. Then some anonymous person stepped up to discuss the new shoe for lesbians, the Dyke-EE.

PG stepped outside again. The music made his glasses rattle in their frames. He went back inside and saw the former Miss Tall International®. She had sponsored a movie night the evening before and the movie had been a beautiful romance. PG forgot the title of the movie, probably because he didn’t go.

Onetime camping friend Pro-A, who liked to talk, appeared. PG was getting reckless by this time, and a talking person, no matter how enthusiastic, is preferable to “Play that funky music white boy” at migraine level. “Have you read any good books lately, Pro-A?” As fate would have it, Pro-A had just finished a tome about Catherine the Great, a Russian Czarina, that PG was blissfully ignorant about.

At this point, PG went into the kitchen to refill his cup with Mountain Dew. He came upon a conversation about Indian Food, vegetarianism, flatulence, and Bean-o. PG agrees with the concept of Bean-o, but wonders what people will do for after dinner amusement. Meanwhile, the music outside was turned down a notch, after houseplants complained about the noise.

This article did not charm the hostess. After dubious apology, PG was allowed to live. This is a repost, edited for the Trifecta writing contest. Pictures are from The Library of Congress.

A jury in Florida rendered a verdict Saturday night. Some are not happy with this ruling. They were looking for the courts to punish the defendant. To many, justice has fallen through the crack.

The truth is that we have trials for a reason. The howling mob, demanding a pound of flesh, is often mistaken. The system exists to protect people from an unjust prosecution. The mobs have not sat in the courtroom, and listened to the evidence. They have not had to make a decision. It is easy to monday morning quarterback a jury, but tough to be on one. Those six women should be thanked for their service, not told to commit suicide.

Some are urging the federal government to prosecute under hate crime laws. This is where Uncle Sam is not happy with the local ruling, and brings his own charges. This is also known as double jeopardy. It is not a good idea. One trial is enough.

Many of the people demanding government sponsored vengeance are Jesus worshipers. This is the man that Pontius Pilate said had done nothing wrong. The crowd shouted Pontius Pilate down. The crowd bellowed Crucify Him, Crucify Him. Pictures are from The Library of Congress.

Prescription For Alcoholics

There is an image on facebook. It is a prescription, dated February 1937. The note reads: Rx for alcoholics 1. Trust G-d 2. Clean house 3. Help others.

The prescription is signed by R.H. Smith, MD. Diseases Of The Rectum. Reg. No. 3089… 810 Second National Bldg., Akron, Ohio… HEmlock 8523 The Collins Drug Co., Dispensing Chemists, 147 South Main St., Akron, Ohio

“Dr. Bob” is one of the Seven Pioneers of Alcoholics Anonymous. “Robert H. Smith, M.D., “ Dr. Bob” to his innumerable friends, physician and surgeon, and cofounder of Alcoholics Anonymous.” In descriptions of the other pioneers, you see the phrase “Bill and Dr. Bob”. Dr. Bob’s last words to Bill W were: “Remember Bill, let’s not louse this thing up. Let’s keep it simple”

PG is a retired drunk. He has never attended an AA meeting. From what he has heard, the AA approach is crude. There is a heavy emphasis on semantics, and clever slogans. AA works for some people. It is not for everyone. *Insert bumper sticker slogan here ____.*

The six word “prescription” would seem to be sound advice. Rule number one … Trust G-d … might be a problem for Jesus worshipers. That so called religion is, in truth, a scheme for life after death. Maybe if Christians would trust G-d to take care of them after death, and quit making noise about “salvation”, the world would be a better place. It would certainly be more quiet.

How Am I Doing Mama?

November 17, 1963, Liza Minnelli was on “The Judy Garland Show”. The former Frances Gumm was looking rusty from years of hard living. Five days later, President Kennedy made a trip to Dallas. Six years later, Judy Garland left the building. Liza Minelli is still with us, fifty years later. She has been every bit as wild as her mother, but lived to see another day. Edward Snowden

Edward Snowden is in the public eye now. He told some journalists about a sleazy government-business connection. The former model is being attacked in the media. Could this be the plan?

One of his sources, Glenn Greenwald said on CNN “One of his big concerns with coming out, really his only one, was that he knows political media loves to dramatize and personalize things, and he was concerned that the focus would distract away from the revelations of about what our government was doing on to him personally …. The other problem is that whenever there’s whistleblower, someone who dissents from our political institutions, the favorite tactic is to try to demonize him and highlight his alleged bad personality traits. ”

Lets assume for a minute that few people are surprised that the government is spying on them. Perhaps the plan was to get this information out, and do so in a way that the focus is on the whistleblower rather than the message. This could take several forms. Mr. Snowden could be on the payroll, and will spend a well paid life in exile. Or, Mr. Snowden might be sincere, but was egged on by government personnel who wanted to get this story out in the open.

It should be noted that Chamblee54 does not know what he is talking about. This is rank speculation. Pictures today are from Gwinnett County. Mr. Snowden will probably not spend time in this facility. The spell check suggestion for Snowden is Snowmen. This is similar to straw man.
