The traditional chant for re-election is “four more years.” Yesterday, the wait for the election was four more weeks. This nightmare election is almost over. If someone had made this up, they would be laughed at. Reality is bad fiction.

As Al Gore knows, the Presidency is decided by electoral votes. You do not vote for DJT or HRC. You vote for electors, whose identity is a google proof secret. These people elect the President. If Georgia goes Republican, then you vote for DJT. Tell your SJW neighbor they are voting for DJT, like it or not. Despite recent Democrat gains, Georgia is So Red It Glows (SRIG.)

In 2008, a dark skinned man ran for President. Georgia voters are roughly 30% black. If BHO got 90% of that vote, that is 27% of the vote. For BHO to take Georgia, he needed 32% of the non-black vote. Mitt Romney won 53% of the overall Georgia vote. In other words, BHO could not get 32% of the non black vote, and came up seriously short.

GeorgiaPol had a story today, Is There A “Dire Risk” of Trump Losing Georgia? “… the conventional wisdom says that private polling done by the parties is more accurate than public polls. … And those party polls are by definition not public…” There was a comment: “… Clinton pulled her advertising from Georgia a couple of weeks ago.” That should tell you something.

According to fivethirtyeight, HRC has a 32.5% chance of winning Georgia. 538 changes the map several times daily. Arizona went blue today. The Georgia score was 20% when PG first started to follow 538, so 32% is a blue improvement.

Conventional wisdom (oxymoron alert) has it that the swing states will decide the election. These are states which are not considered true blue (California, New York) or SRIG (Texas.) Politico says these states are Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin. As this post is written, all the swing states are going to HRC.

The last three weeks have been wild at 538. When PG first started following, Florida (29 e votes), North Carolina(15), and Ohio (18) were red. First Florida, then North Carolina, then Ohio went for Hillary. 538 calls Florida 73% certain to vote for HRC, North Carolina 70%, and Ohio 67%. Pennsylvania, another purple favorite, is leaning 88.8% for HRC. These numbers may change by the time this feature is posted, or when DJT opens his mouth.

The problem is the Senate and House. In Georgia, alleged Klansman Johnny Isakson is coasting to an easy re-election, over some little known Democrat. In District 6, Tom Price is assured of re-election. Until writing this post, PG had never heard the name of the Democrat candidate for District 6. The name is Rodney Stooksbury. This is not supposed to be funny.

Celebrity Mug Shots

There is a site called “The smoking gun” which can provide hours of fun. PG stumbled onto a section, devoted to mug shots of celebrities. Before jumping to any conclusions, take a look at Rush Limbaugh, and Paris Hilton. They look just as presentable as ever, give or take a prescription or two. On the other hand, look at Glen Campbell. and try not to remember what he used to look like.

Mug shots are a part of history. We have all heard the story of Rosa Parks, and how she started a revolution by keeping her seat. The mug shot taken that day is a part of the story.

(According to wikipedia, Mrs. Parks was arrested December 1, 1955 in the original incident. She was later arrested February 22, 1956 as part of the bus boycott. PG is uncertain which arrest led to the photograph in this post.)
There are 18 people displayed in this post. Bernie Madoff earned his money the old fashioned way, by stealing it. James Earl Ray and Lee Harvey Oswald were accused of killing someone famous, although the guilt, or innocence, of Oswald will never be known. Martin Luther King Jr. was involved in the bus boycott, sparked by Rosa Parks. A prophet is not without honor, except in his own land.

Janis Joplin cussed out some police during a concert in Tampa, Florida. Soon, it was determined that free speech enabled her to behave in that manner, and the charges were dropped.

Deion Sanders was warned not to fish at a lake owned by SW Florida International Airport. That did not stop him, and he was taken into custody. Deion gets points for having a great smile during this moment of glory.

Most of the rest got in trouble because of sex or drugs. Frank Sinatra had an affair with a married woman, which could get you locked up in 1938. Jim Morrison, Pee Wee Herman, and Larry Craig gave public exhibitions. Mr. Craig gets points for wearing a flag lapel pin. This is a repost.

If you see a statistics junkie with glazed over eyes, it might be because of 2015 Crime in the United States. The FBI issued the report recently. CIUS shows that homicide went up 10.8% This is the crime that today’s feature will focus on, with an emphasis on black and white. If you want to skip over the text, and look at the pictures (from The Library of Congress,) you will be excused.

The FBI stats are a bit tricky. Hispanics are lumped in with the rest of the population. At the Census Bureau the categories are White, 77.1%, Black or African American, 13.3%, American Indian and Alaska Native, 1.2%, Asian, 5.6%, Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, 0.2%, Two or More Races, 2.6%. Links will be provided for the sources used today. If you want to look at these numbers, and see something different, you are welcome to do so.

There were 13,455 homicides in 2015. 5,854 white people, and 7,039 black people, were victims. If you break this down by gender, it was male, 10,608, female, 2818, and unknown, 29.

The next breakdown is based on Single victim/single offender killing. This category accounts for 45.6% of the homicides. This breakdown is Race of Victim by Race of Offender, 2015. Of 3,167 white victims, 81.2% were killed by white people, and 15.7% were killed by black people. Of 2,664 black victims, 8.5% were killed by white people, and 89.3% were killed by black people.

There were 5,854 white homicide victims. Out of an estimated population of 247,813,910 people, this works out to 23.6 murders per million. For black people, there were 7,039 victims. In a population of 42,748,703, this divides out to 164.6 murders per million.

The Guardian keeps track of police killings with a database, The Counted People killed by police in the US. In 2015, police killed 1,146 people. This breaks down to 306 Black, 13 Native American, 195 Hispanic/Latino, 581 White, 24 Asian/Pacific Islander, 27 Other/Unknown. The Guardian counts Hispanic/Latino as a separate category, unlike the FBI and the Census Bureau. The killing-per-million figures are 7.66 Black, 5.49 Native American, 3.45 Hispanic/Latino, 2.93 White, 1.34 Asian/Pacific Islander. (In 2016, Native Americans, 5.49 per million, are being killed by police at a higher rate than Black people, 5.03 per million.)

These statistics, in and of themselves, are of limited value. They do not reflect the much greater attention paid to police killing that to citizen on citizen crime killing. Links are provided to all sources. Readers are invited to look at the numbers, and see what conclusions they can come up with.

The names in these pictures are children. They lived in Pakistan. They were killed by the United States. Unmanned aircraft routinely fly over Pakistan and kill people. There is no risk to any United States military personnel.

The background pictures are from a neighborhood fall festival. This is life in the United States. Some say that the children in Pakistan are killed to preserve this way of life. Kill them over there before they come kill us here.

A young man was killed in a Florida town. An enormous outcry was heard. His image was on every television set in America. Every name in this feature is a young person, killed by an the American military. Pictures of these children will not be seen on American television. If the POTUS had a son, he would not look like one of these children. This is a repost.

Bloggingheads.tv released another chat featuring Glenn Loury and John McWhorter. With election days 35 days away, there was lots of talk about Donald and Hillary. It only took 1:44, in episode 44020, to learn what is expected. The assignment is to call DJT a racist, and lament what a terrible thing that is. This is what passes for political discourse in 2016.

At 3:28, there was an aha moment. The line was that DJT, instead of an orange haired ogre, was really just a seventh grade bully. When PG was in seventh grade, there was a mean person who gave him problems. This individual is now a facebook friend, and regularly posts memes supporting DJT. PG likes to know what the “other side” thinks. Ignoring the memes is always an option.

At 9:22, the importance of identifying racism in others is stressed. This is said to totally justify the appeal of DJT. Once you call someone a racist, you no longer have to work to understand their motives. When the scarlet R is super glued to somebody, that is all you need to know.

The Scarlet Letter is the rip roaring tale of Hester Prynne. She got caught fooling around, and had the scarlet A, for adultery, pinned to her chest. It was pinned to her chest, and she could see who did the pinning. In today’s “woke” world, the scarlet R, for racist, is super glued to the back of the terrible person. The person never knows who gave them this dreaded, irrevocable, label.

At 21:28, John tells an amusing story. He was talking to a well meaning white woman, said to be helpful in selling more books. At some point, the woman felt obligated to say that “we don’t like to talk about race.” John was too polite to laugh in her face.

The truth is, of course, that talking about race is the new national pastime. Does anyone listen? In all that talk, is anything worthwhile said? These questions are considered rude, and probably racist.

At 31:09, John said the n word. It is not known whether it ended with -er, or with -a. Pictures today are from The Library of Congress.
