You can’t win. One is admonished when one promotes their posts, one is admonished when one doesn’t. I don’t see anything wrong with what you did. It wouldn’t have bothered me. If you want to bother me, you have to be trying to sell Viagra along with your blog link.

I think you never really know what’s going to rile people up. SPAM, to me, isn’t human generated and has nothing to do with the content of the rest of the page. Trust me, we get enough spam to tell the difference. ;-)
