The Termination Of Carrie Prejean

.
Just when you thought you had heard the last of Carrie Prejean, she gets fired. The true story may never be known. Somehow, the official excuse of contract violations sounds flimsy. But then, the lady wrote on her pageant bio that her ambition was to be a Victoria’s Secret model. From there to “opposite marriage” flack is a bit of a jump.
To PG, the whole story got very sad when the reports of Miss Prejean’s childhood emerged. Her parents separated when she was, at most, one year old. For the next ten years, there was a nasty custody battle, with all sorts of accusations. One wonders what Miss Prejean thinks she is defending.
The flip flop by Donald Trump is not surprising. The man seems to believe his own hype. First he supported Miss Prejean, in spite of the nudie pictures. Then, the rude behavior caught up with her, and she was expendable. Or, maybe she didn’t put out for him.
The National Organization for Marriage exploited Miss Prejean as much as anybody. If Miss Prejean had quietly gone away after the pageant, Perez Hilton would have looked like a mean old fool (which he does anyway) The fateful answer at the pageant would have been forgotten. As Keith Lewis ( Executive Director of K2 Productions, the independent producers of the Miss California USA pageant) says, the NOM was looking for a fresh face, and Miss Prejean fit the bill.
The interview with Keith Lewis is fascinating. It seems like Miss Prejean met Mr. Lewis and his boyfriend, and knew they were more than business partners. Things got very hectic in beauty contest land. You will have to turn up the sound on your computer to hear what is said.
It seems like Miss Prejean got a bit too big for her britches. There are reports of rudeness towards pageant officials. To be fair, Miss Prejean does have her story to tell. TMZ reports that K2 productions tried to set up a photo shoot with Playboy Magazine. Miss Prejean says : “I was very respectful of people even when they slandered me and humiliated me. I have not once stooped down to their level.”
That is not what others say. A site called The Dirty got a copy of a memo. The reasons for firing Miss California were: “1) Carrie was unavailable for the pageant organized interviews. She committed to only 1 of the 17 interviews that were scheduled. Sadly, the pageant had pitched 46 different entities for press interviews with Carrie but only 17 agreed. The others refused because of the controversy that Carrie was embroiled in.
2) The main sponsors for Miss California USA sent letters to the organization claiming that they will no longer sponsor the pageant because of the controversy that Carrie had caused. Her statements against gay marriage and rights and the lies regarding images of her (thanks to TheDirty.com) had appalled the sponsors and their clients.
3) The costs for the organization to deal with the controversies caused by Carrie far outweighed the revenues they could possibly ever recoup from her representation. These costs were primarily legal fees including notifying Carrie of her multiple contract breaches as well as the public relations costs for the unremitting damage control.
The only recourse the pageant had was to fire Carrie Prejean… Donald, finally used his infamous line “Carrie, you are fired!”.
The bottom line is, a beauty pageant winner is a PR position. Her job is to look pretty, and create good will. Apparently, Miss Prejean was not doing this job. From the looks of these conflicting statements, this is going to be settled in court, by lawyers. It was lawyers that brought us the Gay Marriage issue to begin with. Unnecessary Culture War

PG read “Churchill, Hitler, and the unnecessary war” by Patrick Buchanan. It makes some interesting points, and is luxuriously footnoted. This is not to say that PG believes all of it.
Part of the problem is Pat Buchanan. He was a speechwriter for Richard Nixon, and a public nuisance today. He gave a hateful speech at the Republican Convention in 1992 , known as the “Culture War” speech. This speech alienated many people, and was a factor in the victory of Bill Clinton.
The book starts with the deal making before World War I. Germany was ruled by Kaiser Wilhelm, the grandson of Queen Victoria. He tried to arrange an alliance with Great Britain. Instead, Britain entered into a secret alliance with France. In 1914, Europe basically blundered into war. The conflict turned into a ghastly stalemate, which continued until 1918. The victorious French forced a vengeful peace on the Germans, setting the stage for the second world war.
Great Britain made many mistakes. They severed an alliance with Japan. They allowed Hitler to advance, then gave a guarantee to Poland that they would defend her in a war. This guarantee to Poland is the biggest blunder of all, according to Buchanan. It made war all but certain. According to Buchanan, if Britain and France had played their cards right, then Hitler’s big war would have been against the Soviet Union.
Eventually, Nazi Germany was defeated, but at a frightful cost. The millions of dead in the war produced an East Europe under Communist Rule for 50 years. The British Empire was a shadow of its former self. The United States came out of the war looking good, but much of Europe was destroyed, and then ruled by Communists.
Winston Churchill does not look good. He is seen cheering the start of war in 1914. He makes numerous blunders and about faces. Churchill was an inspiring leader in the second war.( An actor made speeches for him on radio) The same could be said for Hitler, who read his own speeches.
As with all history, this book needs to be taken with a bit of skepticism. Tom Robbins makes a comparison of history to animal husbandry. A herd manager mixes bloodlines to create an improved breed. A historian takes “facts”, and mixes them to support an agenda. Both are usually up to their ankles in s**t.
After PG finished the Buchanan book, he started one by Deepak Chopra. The title was “Why is G-d Laughing?“. The first chapter tells the story of a famous comedian. He goes to the hospital when his father drops dead of a heart attack. The comedian cannot help but think of jokes. PG is going to return this to the library without reading any more.

Unencyclopedia

PG had this bright idea to write a post about Oscar Wilde. He may yet do it someday, but he got lost in the research process. He made a mistake. He went to google, and typed in Oscar Wilde. After a dozen sites came up with quotes from Mr. Wilde (which Mr. Wilde stole from Queen Victoria), there was this… Making up Oscar Wilde quotes – Uncyclopedia, the content-free ..May 8, 2009 … Officially listed as the National Sport of England, making up Oscar Wilde quotes is widely regarded as the greatest spectator sport ever …
PG was intrigued, and went to the site. There were some jewels like ” “It’s like taking acid at McDonald’s.” ~ Oscar Wilde on Bathing Fully Clothed “ Or, “Leave Oscar Wilde alone! what did he do to deserve you writing all this crap about him?!? HE’S A HUMAN BEING!!!”~ Chris Crocker on Why we should all LEAVE OSCAR ALONE!!!! “And who can forget “”Was it six million? Well, anyway what a beautiful moustache.” ~ Oscar Wilde”. At the bottom of the page was the notice that real Oscar Wilde quotes had been inserted onto the page.
PG decided to explore the uncyclopedia. The first thing he tried was Pizza. There was a header that the page may be racist, and an Oscar Wilde quote.
If Pizza is racist, then the next stop should be fried chicken. There was no mention of the Big Chicken, but there were politically incorrect cartoons and remarks. PG then tried, in order, Dear Abby, Jane Fonda, and Bill O’Reilly.. There was an illustration of Jane Fonda eating fried chicken with Bill O’Reilly. Mr. O’Reilly asked if it was finger lickin good, and Ms. Fonda dumped the bucket over his head.
The next person PG tried was Harry Hay. Uncyclopedia had never heard of him.

Motivation For Sunday Morning

PG was watching the clock in the corner of the screen digitize into another day. He selected “novelty” at the Free Music Archive and thought he was at an Albanian circus. The last blog on his blogroll was “World Class Stupid“, and the last shall be first.
World Class Stupid is the product of a man named Roman Hans. He is six foot eight inches tall and lives in Brooklyn. He tells great stories. The good news is, WCS directed me to Lisa Nichols. She is going to change your life, as soon as she gets a credit card number.
For $327.00, you get a deluxe package of cd’s, flash cards, and other neat stuff. As the ad says “Two Fast Finish CDs to accelerate your learning. On these two CDs you will be able to listen to the Coaching CDs from the Main Course at a super-rapid pace, making it easier to review the material and imprint it into your inner, genius mind.”
World Class Stupid is inspired, and is going to write his own motivational program. As soon as the kickback is arranged, PG will post a link.
This has been a very good week for the stats at Chamblee54. There was grumbling about the uneven coverage of two high profile murders. PG decided to compare this to the coverage given a murder reported at the local fishwrapper. The local murder story did not take long to find.
Bill O’Reilly, our national arbiter of morals, has said he will report more on the coverage of the high profile shootings. If you have cable and patience, you will know how to find him. It is highly unlikely he will report the coverage of the third murder, or any of the other “senseless” killings this week in our gun happy society.
Last night in Atlanta, two more people became statistics. According to the Fishwrapper:” 34-year-old Aundra Reynolds was shot and killed in an apparent attempted robbery while sitting inside his Dodge Durango truck at the Forest Cove Apartments off New Town Circle in Southeast Atlanta… it appears the killer was seated on the passenger side of the vehicle when the shooting occurred, “
In and apparently unrelated incident, a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds on Woodland Avenue. This is off rowdy Cheshire Bridge Road. The unidentified man died at Grady Hospital. There is no word of coverage on either CNN or Fox news.

Murder Cairo Code Pink

It has been a week. A plane with a lot of people fell out of the sky. The various governments have been very quiet, the way governments are when there is something to cover up. There is now speculation that UFOs were involved. While this may seem a bit flaky, it makes as much sense as some of the other stories.
The attempt to jumpstart the mercifully quiet career of eminem continues. That was not a UFO that landed on his face during the MTV awards, although questions about the origin of Borat/Bruno are to be expected.
Another media personality that will not go away was featured at another blog. Sarah Palin gave a speech, introducing Michael Reagan. If you have too much free time….
One of those pesky blogs has a series about President Reagan this week. The lead quote:“He was an actor, and he understood there was somebody who planned the lighting, somebody who built the set and wrote the script.” Like Spencer Tracy said, Remember your lines and don’t trip over the props. Dick Van Dyke only heard the first part.
Meanwhile, in Cairo, the Reagan of the new age gave a speech. BHO has this thing about blockbuster speeches. While America is getting bored, the rest of the world is a fresh audience. If this speech does for USA-Islam relations what his race speech did for black-white relations…
A blogger called Sandmonkey copped a ticket to the Cairo speech. His take: “The speech was everything was expected and more. The guy achieved his goals and executed it effectively and brilliantly. It was big on comfort and platitudes, and short on substance, but really, what does one expect other than that from an Obama speech? If you are going to see Obama, you are going to watch an expert showman. Just don’t expect much beyond entertainment.”
SM then left the hall, and was confronted with the spectacle of code pink. The ladies were carrying signs about Israeli conduct in Gaza. This might be more appropriate than you think, considering the help Egypt has given Israel in Gaza Roast. And some still say that Israel is the only ally America has in the Middle East.
There is more to report, but between the internet, cable television, and the surviving newspapers, Chamblee 54 is confident you can keep up. If you choose to go to New Bethel Church in Louisville, Ky, Pastor Ken Pagano has organized an “Open Carry Celebration“. You are encouraged to bring a handgun to church. No one is speculating what impact this will have on the offering.

Meaningful or Meaningless

There is a post at Obsidian Wings about two of the three murders. It is about the responsibility of those who denounce abortion in the most inflammatory manner possible. Certainly, there has been tons of purple prose produced by the anti abortion people over the last thirty years. At what point does this translate into the murder of George Tiller?
Much of what PG has read this week has been along the lines of we denounce violence, but abortion is still horrible. When the bile monger is the Roman Pedophile Church, the hypocrisy scorekeepers have to work overtime to keep up.
The post at OW then turns to the murder of the army recruiter William Long. The trigger was apparently pulled by a crazed Muslim convert, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad. Are all Muslims and peace activists supposed to denounce this murder? The moral statistics are a bit fuzzy here as well. This act of violence is directed at the Army, whose reason for being is killing.
What the post at OW does not mention is the third murder considered this week. The killing of Shani Fecht was the sort of “routine” killing that goes without notice. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the alleged killer said after his arrest “Can I ask you a question? Am I going away for a long time? If I do go away for a long time, I would like it [to] be in a hospital.”
This alleged killer is Zeke Cordell, the 18 year old son of Mrs. Fecht.
Who is supposed to denounce this killing? Those who advocate for the “right” of an apparently disturbed teenager to have access to a rifle? Or, maybe teenagers who have fights with their mother.
Another thing to ponder about these murders is the changes that will come about as a result. Will women quit getting pregnant, and having abortions? Will the anti abortion crowd tone down it’s rhetoric? Will the War in Babylon stop? Will teenagers get along with their parents? Or, could it be that, truly, they were “meaningless” acts of violence?

TMI Mongers

There is a post at avitable saying “You are a life blogger”. There is the result of a quiz about “what kind of blogger you are”at blogthings.
For the record, PG is a pundit blogger. The drivel written about this is probably somewhere in this post. If the test had said Pundit Goober, that might have been accurate, and PG could stand for it.
These blog tests are all multiple choice, which makes it possible to grade and classify fast. The problem with this is, you choose the least of the evils. Of the seven questions and forty two possible answers on this test, PG had confidence in zero.
Question six is good for an example. Your biggest blogging pet peeve is:… Bloggers who play pretend nice with one another to get more traffic//Bloggers who never share anything about themselves//Boring blogs about politics or news//Filler blog posts that are lacking in content//Anonymous blogs that your friends may be hiding from you//People who don’t have enough interesting links in their posts.
The process of elimination yielded “Boring posts about politics or news“, but those are easy to skip over. If a blog bores PG , he quits visiting. To PG, a far worse offense is auto start music players. Those are the work of the devil.
At the end of the test, there was a place to click and have the results posted on Facebook. PG sees these test results everyday, along with mafia wars and other such nonsense. Maybe the correct answer to number six is tmi mongers who assume that you are interested.

More About The Murders

Yesterday, this blog wrote about uneven coverage of murders. Today, there is more information about the lady in the Isuzu.
Alexander E. Cordell, 18, of 8600 Roberts Drive, is being charged with murder in the death of his mother, 40-year-old Shani D. Fecht.
Fecht was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in her Isuzu Rodeo near Cordell’s apartment complex, police said.
For more information about George Tiller or William Long, check the corporate media.
There is a lot of talk about crime these days. Statistics say it is down, but that doesn’t help if the person hit is you. There is talk about the right to bear arms, and the availability of deadly weapons. If Alexander Cordell did not have access to a weapon, his mother would probably be alive today.
On the other hand, if Shani Fecht had chosen to get an abortion, Alexander Cordell would never have lived. Today would be another day in the life for Ms. Fecht. PG does not claim to know the answers.

Three Murders

This is a story about three murders. Two are getting a lot of publicity. One you probably have not heard about. Who is to say which is the most important.
Unless you live under a rock, you have heard about George Tiller. He performed abortions. Bill O’Reilly denounced him on national television dozens of times. He was shot in church sunday.
In Little Rock AK tuesday, a man called Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad opened fire at a military recruiting center. Mr. Muhammad was a convert to Islam, formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe. William Long died as a result of the shooting.
A bit closer to home was this story: “A woman was found shot to death Tuesday in a silver Isuzu Rodeo in north Sandy Springs, police said. The victim was found around 2:30 p.m. in the vehicle on Roberts Drive, between The Preserve at Dunwoody and Hunters Glen apartment complexes. Lt. Steve Rose said several witnesses were being interviewed by police, and more information would be released soon.”
PG stopped by the web home of Centurion today, and found this story: “Two killers, two victims. One murder gets twice as many national news stories than the other.“ There was a link to a site called newsbusters, with the motto : “Exposing & Combating Liberal Media Bias”.
The story at newsbusters detailed the number of google news stories about Mr. Tiller and Mr. Long. The demise of Mr. Tiller got a lot more attention than the story of Mr. Long. There was no mention of the lady in the silver Isuzu.

The Ethics Of Killing Abortion Doctors

PG arrived at Uzi’s house about 3pm. The plan was to walk through the yard, and discuss what plants needed to die. This was going to be great fun for PG, since he could recommend anything, and not have to do any work. There were some weed trees, evil privet, and shrubs that had outlived their usefulness. PG took the Hitler approach…kill them all.
The next stop was Sope Creek. SC is a part of the National Parks around the Chattahoochee River. It is pretty standard for such venues…parking lot, trail, water at the bottom of a steep hill. A shady parking spot was secured, and the appropriate trail found.
The goal was to get to the creek, where the polluted water runs over the rocks. The trail started out as a wide thing for mountain bikes, but soon there was the turnoff to get to the creek, The trail got narrow and rocky. Uzi began to wonder if it was worth the effort, but PG wanted to see polluted water running over rocks. It reminds him of home.
The path got steeper and steeper, and soon the sound of polluted water was in the air. The smell of the water was overcome by the sap happy pine trees. Soon, the last part of the trail turned into rocks, and the two old fogeys were at the creek. Across the stream was the ruins of a mill… no doubt destroyed by the dastardly Yankees during the war of northern aggression.
PG decided to walk on the edge of the creek, going upstream a careful step at a time. Uzi followed reluctantly. Soon, a path seemed to go back uphill, and the pair started up this path. The path disappeared in a welter of poison ivy, and the two explorers went upstream a few paces more. Finally, a path to the top appeared, and went all the way to the mountain bike trail. This was more exercise than Uzi had committed in some time.
After the parking lot appeared, it was time to discuss dinner. It was decided that the staff at Piccadilly was too accustomed to their sunday patronage, and that an alternative was needed. After much debate, the Flying Biscuit on Roswell Road was selected. A blond on the patio, separated from PG by a sheet of glass, had a gesture filled discussion with a cigarette smoking friend. PG and Uzi sensed drama, and that it was someone else’s fault.
PG had some kind of veggie burger, with a side of spiced potatoes. Uzi had a barbecue burrito. PG enjoyed his burger, although he knew he would want more food when he got home.
The restaurant manager came by the table to ask how they liked the food, and how did you hear about the biscuit. The manager held the door as the PG and Uzi left. The Piccadilly Cafeteria asked restaurant central where PG and Uzi were, but got an uncertain reply. The Flying Biscuit is a no snitch facility.

The Reality Check Is In The Mail

The subject of todays round table is reality.
The first stop on this bumpy road was kikoshouse. PG saw a feature there about the US Army. It seems that at Fort Campbell, there is a problem with soldiers committing suicide. (Any Jihadist reading this can go find your own blow uppers.) The commander of the 101st Airborne Division is a take charge type, Brig. Gen. Stephen J. Townsend. He, in so many words, ordered the soldiers to stop killing themselves. “If you don’t remember anything else I say in the next five or 10 minutes, remember this — suicidal behavior in the 101st on Fort Campbell is bad. It’s bad for soldiers, it’s bad for families, bad for your units, bad for this division and our army and our country and it’s got to stop now. Suicides at Fort Campbell have to stop now.”
At the other end of the life cycle, there is the teenage abstinence program. The poster girl is Bristol Palin. Yes, the same Bristol who fornicated in her parents house. The same Bristol who had her baby, and broke up with the babydaddy, with numerous hard feelings. Some people find this not real. And who is caring for baby Tripp while Mama Bristol talks up abstinence?
There is a blog called TwentyTwoWords. The idea is to express yourself in under 22 words. Some people obey this rule. The concept today was “Is a blog with comments somehow a truer blog than those that have comments off? Occasionally, I encounter the opinion online that a blog isn’t a real blog if it doesn’t have comments. What do you think?”
The first comment was by Chamblee54. “Not knowing what real means, I consulted Wiktionary. Adjective #7… That is an exemplary or pungent instance of a class or type” 21 words, one number, and the pound sign.
At this point, PG went to the mailbox, and found a check in the mail. It was a reality check. When he took it to the bank, it was rejected for having insufficient funds.
