As the reader(s) of this blog may have noticed, chamblee54 features poetry. Lately, I have been wondering exactly what I have, and how to access this archive. Yesterday, I started to create a numbered spreadsheet of the 674 graphic poems that have been published in the last five years. Item C001 was published 10-04-2013. A lot of these are terrible. Many of the early works were the result of a writing contest, which is no longer in operation. A prompt would be for 33 words, including a certain word, phrase, or concept. Trifecta is no longer in business. Another writing contest, Yeah Write, kicked me out for this poem. Those are the breaks. The party goes on. Labelism Is Privilege
racist liberal conservative – confusing labels function – distract media happy people
use of these words as insults – says more about the talker – than the object of derision
people say i firmly believe i work to live i don’t live to work
is there a difference? – does your heart stop beating when you clock in?
do you get hungry before lunch? – live your only life don’t perform it
cracker not the paleface version of the n word
many crackers don’t care what y’all think or say
why give others the power to turn you into sputtering rage
because the wrong person said a bad word
take almost empty salsa bottle add five ounces water
put top on bottle shake boil water add water to crushed ramen noodles in bowl
put lid on bowl wait five minutes eat clean up
