    I love these two bookend lines: “runner starts out equal” and “common finish line.”

    When I ran competitively I was always so happy to see the finish line because there was always a part of me that worried I would never find it and die somewhere on the course. LOL You managed to say lots in few words. Nice!

        This is one of the options in a race like this. There is a handful of runners who run hard, and fast, trying to win the race. This is their choice. There are others who are there to enjoy running with other people. This often includes praise. Thanks for stopping by.

        I don’t see competition (with oneself or others) and praise as alternatives. Runners can do both.
