The Health Care debate has gone commando. Instead of focusing on the issues, the various players are running around pointing fingers and screaming racist. Race is the most effective divide and conquer tactic ever known, at least in America. And the big money players are watching with glee.
Matt Taibbi has a report on the deal that PhRMA has made. PhRMA is the lobbying arm of the pharmaceutical industry. They agreed to support the health care reform, if certain provisions are taken out. “two important reforms: one, to allow the government to negotiate bulk rates for drugs in Medicare, and the other to permit the importation of cheap drugs from Canada” . In exchange for this concession, PhRMA will support the health care plan with a $150 million ad campaign. Is financial support for the re- election of BHO part of the deal?
Meanwhile, the word on the street is racism. Even smiling Jimmy Carter is playing the game now. When he ran for Governor in 1970, he ran, according to many observers, a racist campaign. Once he got into office, Jimmy was suddenly a moderate, saying the time for segregation is over. Now, money is talking again, and Mr. Carter is helping the divide and conquer tactics of the special interests.
Taibbi says “Progressives this week are fighting to accumulate the votes needed to stop any health care bill that doesn’t have a public option. Hopefully they can stop this PhRMA payoff as well. If you’ve got a phone, call your congressman and give him/her hell about this…”
PG can only shake his head. His representative in the house is Hank Johnson. Mr. Johnson is talking about the Klan riding horses in the countryside.
